Blastoff privacy

Updated: 10 October 2026.

Blastoff is an independent project by Oscar Rivero for following launches and exploring rocket references. Contact: [email protected]. It is not affiliated with SpaceX.

Data stored on your device

Blastoff stores followed missions, reminder preferences, appearance, a copy of queried information and a local request budget. It has no accounts, advertising, first-party analytics or advertising tracking. It does not send a list of your bookmarks to a Blastoff server. There is no app-operated cross-device sync; iOS may include local data in its backups, depending on your settings.

You can unfollow missions and remove their reminders in the app. Changing notification permission does not erase bookmarks. Deleting the app removes its local data from that installation; offloading it while keeping data does not. iOS backups are managed separately through Apple’s controls. New information replaces the cache; files set aside while recovering an unreadable cache or request budget may remain locally. The app has no button to erase all its files.

Connections and third parties

Launch queries use HTTPS to The Space Devs’ Launch Library 2. The provider receives your IP address and technical request information. When retrieving a particular mission, it receives its public identifier, which may reveal which mission is being queried. Queries can also run in the background when iOS allows them.

The Space Devs says it uses IP addresses for rate limiting and may log visits, including IP-derived location in some cases. Its policy does not specify a retention period for these logs. See its privacy policy. A mention of Google Analytics on the provider’s website does not mean Blastoff includes it.

Maps use Apple MapKit and may need a connection. Blastoff does not request your location; it displays launch-site coordinates. Use of the service is also covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Opening a broadcast or external source subjects you to the destination’s practices. Sharing opens the iOS share sheet and sends content to the destination you choose. Blastoff does not control that destination.

Reminders and support

Reminders are local notifications managed by iOS. They store mission information and the schedule used on your device; they do not require a Blastoff notification server. Remove them in the app and manage permission in iOS Settings.

If you voluntarily email [email protected], the email channel receives your address and message. Include only what is needed to describe the issue; do not send passwords. Oscar Rivero uses your address and the necessary message content to handle your request. Support emails are retained while the request is open and deleted six months after it is resolved. They are not used for advertising. Email is hosted by Hostinger; see its privacy policy.

Use that contact for privacy or local-data questions. Requests concerning third-party logs are handled by the relevant provider; deleting the app does not erase external logs. This policy will be reviewed if Blastoff’s behavior changes.

Your rights and these pages

You can request access to, correction or deletion of data you have sent to support by emailing that address. You may also request restriction, object to processing or request portability where applicable. We process your support request to provide that assistance; subsequent retention allows follow-up on the same inquiry. You can complain to the competent data protection authority.

Cloudflare serves these pages and receives your IP address and technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. See its privacy policy. These Blastoff pages include no forms, analytics or advertising cookies.
